MSC Seaview – Day 2, Messina

After another fantastic night’s sleep  we woke up in Messina, Sicily.

A leisurely breakfast in the Yacht Club exclusive restaurant ensued and set us up for the day. I enjoyed a beautifully presented eggs royale whilst Andy had a freshly made omelette.

Once breakfast had settled we enjoyed some time in one of the hot tubs on the Yacht Club’s exclusive One Pool deck.

Our customary tour of the ship followed and we met up with our friend Mary and sat at the Sunset Beach Bar on deck 7 with a couple of glasses of prosecco and an ice cream.

A lovely, relaxing morning was then capped off with lunch, again taken in the restaurant.  The Mediterranean flair of the food onboard means it feels healthy whilst still being luxurious, with plenty of salads and smaller portions than we might be used to at home which has the added benefit of meaning there is room for dessert!

The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing and being spoilt by the excellent service and attention to detail. A further dip in the hot tub and more time walking around the ship before getting ready for the Elegant Night.

Alas the champagne bar was calling us before heading back to the Top Sail Lounge for an aperitif and dinner in the restaurant.

We were completely blown away by the food and it was somewhat difficult to choose what to have! The escargots and steak rossini were just perfect and paired brilliantly with wines chosen by the sommelier.

Back in the cabin our voyagers club gift of pens, chocolate ships, chocolate covered strawberries and bottle of prosecco had arrived.

An excellent night’s sleep was had and we’re now docked in Valletta, Malta, with he ship proudly flying the Maltese flag as it is registered here.  We have our massage to look forward to today – I’ve never had a massage before so it will be interesting!
